Instructions for Submitting an Article for Publication
Accepted articles will be published in the A.R.M. Journal

Criteria for Submission of an Article
STEP 1 - Initial abstract summary of content of proposed article
The aim of the abstract summary is to clearly reflect the content of the proposed article Please submit an abstract summary of 30-50 words before submitting any article, by either P.O. Box 317 Strathfield NSW 2135 Fax: (02) 974603746 The abstract summary must show that the article, if accepted, will be on a theme that is generally accepted as being clearly part of tactile therapies treatments; this can include business improvement, aids to patient recovery and in general be of specific relevance to the Australian tactile therapy clinical practice Authors should not assume that because they have submitted the initial summary that their proposed article will be accepted.

STEP 2 - Acceptance of the Proposed Article
Based on the abstract summary submitted (step 1), the Executive Committee will advise if the proposed content of the article is suitable for publication within four weeks of submitting the summary. Acceptance of an article will be at the discretion of the Executive Committee comprising of members who have experienced the Level 2 process or/and are at least familiar with the Level 2 process

STEP 3 - Preparing the Article for Publication
Once content of the actual article is accepted, it must be written to a standard that is regarded as appropriate for a professional massage/health journal and meet the guidelines to assist publishing. Articles are subject to the Executive Committee review process and authors will be consulted regarding editing of content before publishing. Alterations to the submitted article will be made in accordance with the ARM in-house publications style. Information presented in the article must be substantiated by reputable sources of information and references given appropriately. References should be numbered in the order they appear in the article. Unreferenced or poorly referenced articles will be rejected.

Article Presentation Guidelines
By email/ CD:  Please save the file, approximately 3,000 – 5,000 words as a Word Document only, use spell check and a high standard of grammar. Only high quality photos, graphs or tables should be submitted with the location for insertion in the article to be clearly marked if not already inserted.
The article must include:

  •  Title (no more than 6 words)
  • Author’s name and any qualifications
  • Author’s address, telephone, email address or fax number
  • Author’s biography (one sentence only) to be published
  • Summary of the essence of the article in about 30-50 words.

It should be noted that:
Authors with a commercial interest in a therapeutic good, a device or a service mentioned in the article must declare their interest.
This information may be published if the article is accepted. Advertorials, or articles whose purpose is to promote a branded product, course or service for a fee, are not accepted.

GENERAL:
The article remains the property of the author and should the A.R.M. believe alterations are required that may change the actual content or author’s intent, the author will be contacted.
It is understood by the author of an accepted article that the A.R.M. may require to publish it on the A.R.M. website or in other bibliographic index databases that index the A.R.M. or other media that the A.R.M. participates in. As a courtesy to the author, and before publication, the A.R.M. agrees to advise the author that they intend to publish the article in another publication other than the Journal of the A.R.M. In the unlikely event that the author does not wish this publication to occur, the A.R.M. agrees to abide by his or her request not to do so.
No payments are made to the author for inclusion in the A.R.M. Journal. As the A.R.M. is a support organisation for its paying members, any revenue received by the A.R.M. for additional publications of the article remains with the author.
